ROUTE

Your journey from Perth to Exmouth

Perth to Exmouth

  • Day 1 – Monday:
After all participants have been picked up, the journey starts towards your first stop, Yanchep National Park, where you will come into direct contact with koalas. Depending on the weather, you will visit caves in this national park or go sandboarding in Lancelin. After lunch, take the highway to Cervantes, where you can relax or walk down to the sea for a swim. You might even spot a few sea lions, which often swim close to the coast. Afterwards, head to Nambung National Park to admire the enchanting sunset over the famous Pinnacles. You will spend the night in a shared room in Cervantes.(M/A)
  • Day 2 – Tuesday:
This day starts with a drive along the coast to the north and a visit to Greenough Wildlife Park, where unique horizontal trees grow. Afterwards, you’ll reach the Hutt River Province, where you’ll meet Prince Leonard, who will tell you about his passion for his own country. You’ll even get a stamp in your passport! In the afternoon, the coastal gorges of Kalbarri National Park will leave you speechless with their beauty. In the whale season, you may even be able to see whales passing by from the top of the cliffs. In this national park, you can spend some time as you wish before enjoying a delicious Australian BBQ. You will spend your second night in a shared room again, this time at Kalbarri Backpackers Hostel.(F/M/A)
  • Day 3 – Wednesday:
Today you will travel through the Kalbarri National Park to the spectacular Z-Bend Gorge, where you can abseil and hike down into a 400 million year old landscape. Depending on the season, you can swim in a secluded pool before heading to Nature’s Window. After lunch, you’ll reach the Midwest Outback, a stretch of land with few inhabitants and huge sheep farms. Then you will see the extraordinary Hamelin Pool stromatolites, which are among the oldest organisms on earth and are believed to be among the first producers of oxygen. The tour then takes you to the World Heritage Site of Shark Bay and the unique Shell Beach. In the evening, you will move into your shared room in Australia’s most westerly town, overlooking the beautiful Shark Bay.
  • Day 4 – Thursday:
An unforgettable encounter with the world-famous Bottle Nose Dolphins in Monkey Mia awaits you in the morning. After enjoying some time to yourself there, head further north to Eagle Bluff, where you will have a great view of the marine world and maybe even sharks from a viewing area on a cliff. As you drive further north, you’ll understand why the locals refer to this area as Big Sky Country, which is also home to Australia’s longest straight road. For this night, your group will have exclusive use of a rustic sheep farm where lots of fun awaits. Drive to a private beach in the back of a pick-up truck for sunset, toast marshmallows around a campfire, sit back and soak up the backcountry atmosphere, test your astrological skills under the lush starry sky and if you wish, move your bed outside under the Milky Way and amongst the sounds of the outback. If you want to sleep indoors, you’ll get a double room (upgrades are not available).(F/M/A)
  • Day 5 – Friday:
Before arriving in Coral Bay, there is a stop at the Tropic of Capricorn. Coral Bay has beautiful secluded beaches and here the impressive Ningaloo Reef is just a few meters from the white beach. You can spend the whole day relaxing and swimming on the beach, hire snorkeling equipment and explore the reef, book a glass-bottom boat with a guided tour or take part in an eco day tour where you can swim with manta rays (this tour includes lunch), and in the late afternoon the journey continues across the Northwest Cape to Exmouth. At the Potshot Resort, you will sleep in a shared room and have access to all the amenities, such as two pools, bars and restaurants.
  • Day 6 – Saturday:
Day 6 is all yours or you can join your guide on a free tour to Cape Range and arguably Australia’s most beautiful beach, Turquoise Bay. Optionally, you can hire snorkeling equipment and dive directly into the incredible underwater garden of the Ningaloo Reef, either in the bay or in the drift. Go in search of turtles, octopuses and reef sharks. You will also find a variety of colorful fish and, of course, the beautiful coral formations that make up the reef. Afterwards, head to the Vlamingh Head lighthouse for a spectacular view of the tip of the peninsula. Again you can enjoy an evening and a night at the Potshot Resort.
  • Day 7 – Sunday:
It’s time to start the return journey towards Perth and so you head south along the highway to your overnight accommodation, a shared room in an old monastery near Northampton. On the way there, the driver stops whenever there is something interesting to see.(F/M/A)
  • Day 8 – Monday:
