This Fraser Island 4WD tour gives travelers the opportunity to explore Fraser Island behind the wheel of their own 4WD vehicle! You will travel in a convoy across the entire island, led by an experienced tour guide. Beach camping. All-terrain vehicle with four-wheel drive. Incredible nature. New friends. This is unique. Nomads Noosa is the perfect base to start and finish the tour. Alternatively, you can join the tour at Rainbow Beach.
ROUTE
Your way Fraser Island 4WD Tour
- Day 1:
The day has finally arrived, the first day of your fantastic adventure on Fraser Island with Palace. We leave Nomads Noosa Backpackers early at 6.30am. After stowing your luggage, you’ll head towards Rainbow Beach, where you’ll arrive after a 1.5 to 2 hour drive. We stop here to pick up our food and four-wheel drive vehicles, and that’s it: we’re on our way to the fantastic Fraser Island. If you’re leaving from Rainbow Beach, we’ll pick you up at the BP service station at 9:00am. Before you get on the ferry, you’ll have the opportunity to buy any alcohol and snacks you want to take with you.
We’ll take the ferry from Rainbow Beach and land about 10 minutes later at Hook Point on the southern tip of Fraser Island.
– Ride along the famous 75-mile beach
– Visit Lake Wabby and/or Lake Birrabeen
– Enjoy lunch with the rest of the group
– Ride through the rainforest back to camp
– Enjoy the sunset and dinner with the group
– Stay overnight in the permanently erected tents. Toilets are available. - Day 2:
– Simple breakfast
– Eli Creek to swim in fresh water
– Explore the world famous Maheno shipwreck
– Picnic lunch
– Short stop at the colored sand “Pinnacles”
– Drive to Indian Head Lookout & Champagne Pools
– Return for last night at camp
– Dinner with the group - Day 3:
– Last breakfast on the island
– Drive to Lake McKenzie
– Relax and enjoy the white sand
– Lunch before taking the ferry back to land
– Leave the island around 14:30
– Drop off the 4WD vehicles at Rainbow Beach and disembark the passengers who joined at Rainbow Beach
– Transfer back to Noosa, arriving around 17:00

TRAVEL INFO
Everything you need to know
This tour is suitable for young people aged 18-35. If you are outside this age range, please contact us before booking this tour. The tents are permanently pitched and sleep 2-4 people per tent. Portable toilets are available, showers are not available but you can refresh yourself at the fresh water lakes and rivers during the day. So you have a true camping adventure, just like the Australians do.
Passengers MUST attend a mandatory briefing at Nomads Noosa at 18:00 the day before departure (please let us know if you are departing from Rainbow Beach as we will need to email the briefing details).
There are also possibilities to park vehicles in Noosa or Rainbow Beach. Again, please let us know so that we can arrange this.
