Your way K’gari Tour (Fraser Island)

  • Day 1: Departure from Rainbow Beach
    The morning starts bright and early with our mandatory tour briefing at 7am at Freedom Hostel to receive comprehensive information for this exciting trip. Here you will be divided into groups and have the opportunity to organize luggage storage. You will also learn how to drive safely on Fraser Island before your big adventure begins! Upon arrival, you will drive along the eastern beach – K’gari (Fraser Island)’s very own highway with speed limits! Settle in for the journey and enjoy the views as we head north along the beach, stopping for morning tea at one of the many freshwater creeks on the island.After morning tea, we’ll continue our drive north towards the Maheno shipwreck where we’ll stop to share the history of this important landmark, particularly its use as a hospital ship during the war.Lunch is included for you today, the destination for lunch will be chosen by your guide as he will find the best spot depending on the time of day.In the afternoon we end our day at Eli Creek, a beautifully clear stream, perfect for a refreshing swim and relaxing in the sun before heading to our camp.Meals: Morning tea, lunch, dinner
  • Day 2: K’gari (Fraser Island) Return to Rainbow Beach
    Rise and shine in the morning for a quick breakfast before we begin our second day on K’gari (Fraser Island)! The adventure begins as we drive south to Eurong before heading inland through ever-changing vegetation to the rainforest at Central Station. Here you’ll get out of your vehicle and follow your guide for a walk along the beautiful Wanggoolba Creek. Your guide will explain the history of logging at Central Station and the indigenous significance of Wanggoolba Creek before taking you on a 1.8km self-guided walk through the rainforest. At the other end of the walk you’ll meet your guide again at Pile Valley, where you’ll enjoy morning tea surrounded by imposing Satinay trees, and from Pile Valley it’s just a short drive to the famous Boorangoora ( Lake McKenzie), arguably the most popular and picturesque highlight of K’gari (Fraser Island). Here you can spend relaxing time on the pristine sandy beach and swim and relax in the amazingly clear waters of the lake. We will then have lunch before heading back to Eastern Beach and once back at Eastern Beach we will head south to the ferry. From Inskip Point it is a short drive back to Rainbow Beach where your adventure ends and we return to Freedom Rainbow Beach between 3:30pm and 4:30pm Meals: Morning tea, breakfast, lunch

ALL TRAVELERS SHOULD ATTEND THE SAFETY TALK AT 7:00 AM ON THE DAY OF THE TOUR – please give notice by 12:00 noon the day before if you wish to be in the same car with friends.

Changes within 7 days of your safety talk are not permitted, and cancellations within 7 days will result in the complete loss of the tour.
