ROUTE

Sydney to Cairns Tour

  • Day 1: Sydney
Your tour begins with a city tour of Sydney and an orientation of what awaits you over the next 5 weeks. In the evening, you’ll set off for Byron Bay in an air-conditioned bus with wifi, USB ports and adjustable seats.
  • Day 2 – 5: Byron Bay
Byron Bay is known for its beautiful beaches and the relaxed atmosphere that prevails throughout the town. You can put your skills to the test with a surf lesson, take a trip to the famous Byron Lighthouse and explore the town and beaches.
  • Day 6 – 8: Surfers Paradise
Surfers Paradise is also known as the Miami of Australia: while we explore the endless beaches during the day, we party in the city’s best bars and clubs in the evening.
  • Day 9 – 11: Brisbane
The hostel in Brisbane is right in the city center. We will spend the next 3 days exploring the city, including the City Lagoon, the Brisbane River and the cultural district of Southbank. You also have the opportunity to visit the Australia Zoo (add-on) from here.
  • Day 12 – 13: Noosa
You can only love Noosa. We hike to various lookouts to marvel at the incredible stretches of coastline. With a bit of luck, we’ll also come across some wild animals. In the evening, you can relax by the pool or swap travel stories over a few drinks at the bar.
  • Day 14 – 19: Fraser Island and Rainbow Beach
We continue to Rainbow Beach, the starting point for Fraser Island. Together we take a trip to a nearby bay to see wild dolphins. We spend the next three days on Fraser Island. We will explore the island in a 4×4 off-road vehicle, drive through the rainforest, swim in the island’s lakes and look out for rare Australian animals. We will spend the night in tents under a starry sky directly on the beach.
  • Day 20 – 25: Whitsunday Islands and Airlie Beach
We arrive in Airlie Beach, the gateway to the Whitsundays, in the morning. After checking into the hostel, we take a closer look at the town. The next day we set off on our incredible sailing trip. For 2 days and 2 nights we sail around the Whitsunday Islands, enjoy unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, discover the underwater world while snorkeling and enjoy the breathtaking view at Whitehaven Lookout. After this unforgettable experience, we return to Airlie Beach for two nights. Chill out during the day and party in the evening.
  • Day 25 – 28: Magnetic Island
Magnetic Island is a tropical paradise with an incredible number of must-dos and must-sees. Explore the many bays and sandy beaches, follow us on the Fort Walk, watch koalas in the wild and feed the rock wallabies. You even have the opportunity to hold a koala in your arms at the hostel (add-on). If you’ve had enough chilling on the beach, you can also hire so-called Barbie Cars (add-on) and make the island unsafe.
  • Day 29 – 30: Mission Beach
Next, we travel towards Mission Beach. This beach town has so much to offer – explore the nearby National Park and learn more about the Aboriginal history of the region. Optional activities include white water rafting or a skydivingbut Mission Beach is the most popular spot as you can land on the beach.
  • Day 31 – 35: Cairns, Great Barrier Reef and Atherton Tablelands
We have reached the last stop on our tour: Cairns. There is still a lot on the agenda for the last few days: we explore the Tablelands region on day 32, swim in waterfalls and keep an eye out for the extremely shy platypuses.
We also head out to the Great Barrier Reef on day 33: on a day trip, we snorkel at various spots on the Great Barrier Reef and, with a bit of luck, find Nemo, swim with turtles and watch stingrays. Day 34 is at your leisure, here you can possibly go to the Daintree Rainforest or simply chill out in the free lagoon. In the evening, we hit the bars in town and enjoy a last dinner together, where we look back on the last 5 weeks.
