Your way Tasmania trip
- Day 1 – Salamanca Markets and Port Arthur
We start by exploring the famous Salamanca Markets in Hobart/Nipaluna. At this bustling outdoor market, you can buy handmade Tasmanian goods such as jewelry, art and woodwork. Discover local crafts while enjoying the buskers and music. On our way to the Tasman Peninsula/Turrakana we visit a nature reserve to meet native wildlife, including the Tasmanian devil. The Port Arthur Historic Site is Australia’s best preserved convict settlement and is a UNESCO World Heritage listed cultural attraction. Learn more about Tasmania’s harsh convict history and the well-preserved ruins. You’ll see the geological wonders of Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen before returning to Hobart, where you can spend the evening on your own. Overnight stay in Hobart - Day 2 – Freycinet National Park
After an early start, there’s a good chance you’ll arrive at Wineglass Bay Lookout first and be able to take postcard-perfect photos. Relax on the secluded beach or choose the more challenging Mt Amos or Hazard Beach hike. Overnight stay in Bicheno - Day 3 – Bay of Fires
Today we continue to explore the fascinating east coast of Tasmania. The Bay of Fires/Larapuna is a place of profound cultural significance to the Tasmanian Aboriginal people (Palawa). You’ll love walking along the long stretches of sparkling white sandy beaches with shimmering turquoise waters and lichen-covered boulders. We enjoy lunch in the fishing village of St. Helens and then make our way to Launceston via the lush north-east region of Tasmania. - Day 4 – Cradle Mountain
The World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain Lake St Claire National Park is located approximately 950 m above sea level, where you can hike to your heart’s content. You can walk along one of the countless trails around Dove Lake or take a more challenging path to Marion’s Lookout. Overnight stay in Strahan - Day 5 – The wild west coast
In the untouched wilderness of Tasmania’s west coast, you will explore the shifting sands of the Henty Dunes and hike in the Tarkine Rainforest to the highest waterfalls in Tasmania, the Montezuma Falls. Optionally, you can take part in a tour on the world-famous Gordon River for an additional charge. - Day 6 – Mt Field and Lake St Clair
The tour takes you through the Derwent Valley to see the Russel Falls, hike through the tall trees in Mt Field National Park, visit Australia’s deepest freshwater lake Lake St Clair and explore the impressive Franklin-Gordon Wild River National Park.
