ROUTE

Your way Tasmania round trip

  • Day 1 – Russell Falls – Lake St. Clair
Our journey begins in the lively city of Hobart. Here we start our 7-day round trip through Tasmania and make our way to Strahan. Today we first head into the majestic rainforests of Mount Field National Park, where we can marvel at the impressive Russell Falls. Keep your eyes peeled, because with a bit of luck you might spot animals that can only be found in Tasmania. Before we reach the famous Lake St. Clair, we make a short stop in Tarraleah, a town located at the highest point of Tasmania’s Central Plateau. We might even be lucky enough to spot a platypus. Strengthened by lunch, we travel through Tasmania’s impressive World Heritage Site. We will spend the night in Strahan.
  • Day 2 – Montezuma Falls – Strahan
There is plenty of action on the program today. We hike to Montezuma Falls, the highest waterfalls in Tasmania. Our path leads us through lush bushland and along an old railroad track. From the very top, you can catch a wonderful view of the Southern Ocean and Ocean Beach below. Optionally, you can also take a boat trip on the Gordon River (additional cost). Overnight stay is again in Strahan.
  • Day 3 – Cradle Mountain – Sheffield – Launceston
Today we travel to the Cradle Mountains, where several different hikes await us. From the easy circumnavigation of Dove Lake to the spectacular hike to Marion’s Lookout. If you’re lucky, you might spot wombats along the way
before we reach Tasmania’s garden city Launceston this evening.
    Overnight stay in Launceston.
  • Day 4 – Bay of Fires – Bicheno – East Coast
Explore Cataract Gorge, a beautiful natural gorge in the heart of the city, before heading to the breathtaking Bay of Fires. The bay has been named a top travel destination by Lonely Planet for its brilliant white sands and crystal clear waters. Take your time and explore the beach, swim in the turquoise waters or simply enjoy the view with a cup of coffee. We arrive at our accommodation in the coastal town of Bicheno in the evening. Overnight stay is in Bicheno.
  • Day 5 – Wineglass Bay – Freycinet
Today we continue to Freycinet National Park with its picturesque and famous Wineglass Bay. Here we have enough time to explore the coast and surrounding area on various hikes before returning to Hobart. Overnight stay in Hobart.
  • Day 6 – Tasmanian Devil, Richmond and Wellington Park
Visit Tasmania’s most famous nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary, Bonorong. Encounter a variety of Tasmanian wildlife including marsupials, birds, wombats, kangaroos and the Tasmanian Devil. Then we take our time to enjoy the historic village of Richmond. We travel through the Coal River Valley wine region on the way back to Hobart and on to the city’s huge natural playground, Mount Wellington/kunanyi. Wellington Park is known locally as ‘The Mountain’ and is loved for its distant glades.
Eucalypt forests, dramatic rock pillars and boulder fields, with superb walking tracks to spectacular hiking lookouts. We’ll show you some of our favorite places on Kunanyi, so you can get to know the treasures of Wellington Park better with the guide. Relax tonight in one of the city’s historic pubs or restaurants. Overnight stay in Hobart.
  • Day 7 – Tasman Peninsula
Peninsula/Turrakana. The Port Arthur Historic Site is Australia’s best-preserved convict settlement and is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed cultural attraction.
