ROUTE

Your route Perth to Adelaide

  • Day 1 – Wave Rock and Fitzgerald River National Park
The camping tour from Perth to Adelaide begins with a drive east from the city across the Darling Ranges, stopping for coffee in Western Australia’s oldest inland town, York. After another drive, you’ll have lunch in the shadow of Wave Rock and set up camp in Fitzgerald River National Park in the late afternoon. This is one of Australia’s largest and most botanically significant national parks, renowned for its rugged hinterland, coastal scenery and more than 1,800 beautiful and rare plant species.

Today you travel about 600 km (10 hours) and camp in the Fitzgerald River National Park, which has toilets and showers.

  • Day 2 – Fitzgerald River to Cape Le Grand National Park
Start the morning with a brisk hike up East Mt Baron for breathtaking views, then take the coast road to Esperance, an iconic oceanic wonderland. This part of Western Australia has no less than nine national parks, where you’ll find some of the best beaches in the world. This is the base for two nights. Spend the afternoon hiking, swimming in the turquoise waters or just enjoying the peace and quiet.

Drive about 250 km (2.5 hours) and camp at Cape Le Grand, which has toilets and showers.

  • Day 3 – Cape Le Grand National Park
Crystal-clear water, white powder sand, sweeping granite cliffs… and sunbathing kangaroos? If you want to start the day with an early morning walk on the beach, don’t be surprised to see a kangaroo or two hanging out on Cape Le Grand’s stunning beach – they know what’s good for them. How you choose to spend your day here is entirely up to you: go on a bushwalk along the coast, take a dip in the water, handle your camera gear or just sit back and enjoy the day with your new friends on the beach. You will only be in the car for about 10 minutes on this day and the hikes vary between 2-4 hours. Overnight stay is in the same camp including showers.
  • Day 4 – The Nullarbor
Wake up with the sun and hit the road. By nightfall, we’ll fall asleep under the star-studded outback sky of the Nullarbor. Along the way, we’ll stop for breakfast in the quintessential outback town of Norseman before crossing the Eyre Highway east and exploring Australia’s longest straight road, the 90 Mile Straight. Watch the ever-changing landscapes from the window as the guide tells the stories that make this country unique. Look up to distant galaxies tonight on a true bush camping experience on the Nullarbor.

Today’s driving time is about 7 hours and tonight bush camp on the Nullarbor (no facilities).

  • Day 5 – The Great Australian Bight
Days don’t get more Australian than this. Not only will you cross the 5,320km dingo fence, you’ll also get the chance for a snap or two of the famous wombat, emu, camel road signs on the Nullabor and you’ll stop at the Bunda Cliffs to see where Australia literally falls into the ocean. In the afternoon you’ll cross the border into South Australia where tonight’s free entertainment is kindly provided by the sky globe, and on this day you’ll be on the road for about 7 hours with stops. The overnight camp has toilets and showers.

  • Day 6 – Eyre Peninsula’s West Coast
Discover some pristine coastal sights this morning, including a legendary surf break and the famous pink lake, Lake MacDonnell. Visit the Ceduna Arts and Cultural Center to learn more about the styles and meanings of Indigenous artworks.

After stocking up on supplies in Streaky Bay, test your sandboarding skills on some huge dunes. Arrive at Coodlie Park Farm Retreat in the late afternoon to enjoy a barbecue and roll out your swag in a unique outdoor hut.

Today you drive 600 km (8 hours).

  • Day 7 – Baird Bay & Mikkira Station (Swim with Sea Lions & Dolphins)
In the morning you have the option to swim, snorkel and splash with playful sea lions and dolphins on a 3-hour boat tour. Discover the natural highlights of Port Lincoln and its surrounds, including the rugged Whalers Way and the white sandy beaches of Coffin Bay National Park. You’ll also have time to explore Australia’s seafood capital, Port Lincoln.
After a full day of exploring, return to your new koala friends at Mikkira Station to enjoy a camp dinner and rest up.
